Swamiji is being silly when he says "Give everything". Really - some people don't have a clue about what is essential and what is not. Imagine if the gender roles are reversed. The woman is the one who goes to work, while the man remains at home - drinking his tummy off. What is the Swami's message here, for the wife? - "Give your money?". Come on, we can't be that silly. No one, literally no one, in the audience would be like that - treat your wife like a stupid - and give her whatever she wants. Really, the man and woman in a relationship, should improve their financial planning skills by honest discussion of how much they earn, how much they are spending, how much they need for the future for their children, and what they need post-retirement. Treat each others as equal and improve each other's intellect. Don't treat another as stupid. Yes, because of lack of experience, one of the two can be deficient in something, whereas the other can be deficient in another thing. Talk and communicate and improve each other , so that such deficiency reduces. This is marriage. The silly proposition of "Give money, Give necklace, give whatever is asked for" is a recipe for disaster. Yes I am successfully married for several years now - and I don't treat my spouse so silly as what the Swami says.

Well analysed by swamiji

While I enjoy and respect his teachings immensely and do consider him as one of the real vedantin, I am uncomfortable with his repeated attacks on dvaita and sarcastic remarks on gods/deities/rituals. I see that the ultimate advaitins like Sankara, Ramana and Nisargadatta NEVER mocked saguna upasana. They encouraged people to continue that and taught that if practiced to its perfection, bhakthi is the same as jnana. I will leave it here and offer my humble pranams. Hope to be able to attend swamiji’s sessions in-person.
